New Atlantis Farm was founded on the belief that everyone deserves a bit of an oasis- especially the strange, the curious, and the wonderfully weird. I brought this idea to life with the help of some well-loved goats and a deep love of storytelling. Since then it’s transformed into a self-care experience like no other. At our booth, you’ll find handcrafted soaps, body oils, & other self-care items inspired by tales of old, favorite characters, and the beautifully bizarre. Each item conjures up legends, folklore, and well-loved stories. The final piece of the experience is attending events that offer patrons an escape from the everyday and a touch of fun that lingers long after.
We raise Sebastopol Geese, Silkies & Satins, Bantam Cochins,
and colorful egg layers. We also offer local pickup for fresh eggs from our free range, organic fed flock.
Meet Our Flock>
Here at New Atlantis we keep a small, carefully managed flock of Sebastopol geese. Sebastopol's trace their roots back to southeastern Europe around the Black Sea region (they're even named after the port city of Sevastopol). They're a medium-sized breed known for those signature, snowy white curls. They are considered a threatened breed by The Livestock Conservancy, with estimates of fewer than 5,000 birds worldwide. Supporting and growing these heritage lines is a big part of helping preserve this special, threatened breed for the future. To keep our flock healthy and vigorous, we started with three completely unrelated bloodlines- all are pure white with those gorgeous curly feathers. If you're interested in getting some goslings of your own please drop us a line through the contact form. We heavily socialize and hand rear all our babies to ensure friendly geese. We'd love to chat!
The chicken crew here are New Atlantis reflects a core value we hold- enjoying things in life that are a little strange and light your fire. Because of that we specialize in Silkies, Satins, and Bantam Cochins, with a big emphasis on the gorgeous mille fleur (that classic "thousand flowers" pattern of rich gold, black, and white) and calico varieties across all three. With some paint Silkies and mottled Cochins sprinkled in for fun. These little yard hobbits pack a huge punch when it comes to personality and variety and are perfect for folks who want something truly unique in their backyard. As Marco Polo once wrote, "And there is a strange thing there which I needs must tell you. You must know they have a kind of fowls which have no feathers, but hair only, like a cat’s fur. They are black all over; they lay eggs just like our fowls and are very good to eat."
On top of the fun, feathery and furry critters, we keep a dedicated group of colored egg layers that surprise us daily with blues, greens, olives, and browns. Nothing beats opening the nesting boxes to a rainbow! And our free-range egg layers roam the fields, ensuring a egg hunt everyday and will make a fried egg that even Jesco White would enjoy. All of our birds contain many various bloodlines to ensure and maintain healthy, vigorous lines. If you're in the greater Kansas City area and interested in chicks or just want some fresh farm eggs delivered or picked up, we'd love to hear from you! Drop us a message through the contact form, and we can chat about availability and waiting lists!
If you are seeing this and want some soap! Send me a email or message on any of my socials. We are closer and closer to online ordering but trying to circumvent outrageous third party fees takes time.
